A new Love Island spin-off series has reportedly been commissioned. Apparently, it will feature mature singletons being “coupled up” by their own kids.

According to The Daily Star, the new Love Island spin-off show will be titled ‘Your Mum, My Dad’. It’s due to start filming later this year.

Your Mum, My Dad

The forthcoming series is being hailed as the ‘mature version’ of Love Island.

Love Island is an ITV2 show that sees singles heading on holiday for a summer in order to find love. Couples make up, break up and have the chance to win a hefty money lump sum while they’re at it.

‘Your Mum, My Dad’ will follow similarly to the structure of Love Island. Mature singles who already have children will head off on a retreat in search of romance. Behind the scenes, however, their kids play the matchmakers. Did someone say drama?

A TV source apparently told The Daily Star, “Times change and the current generation in their 40s and 50s still care about how they look, are fit and healthy, into fashion and are ready to let their hair down,”

“This show will give those who settled won young a second chance at love,” reportedly says the source. “And, let’s face it, they know their minds. [Contestants] will be capable of intelligent conversation and are likely to be much more adventurous. All ingredients regular Love Island sometimes lacks.”

The Love Island spin-off show is being created by Lifted Entertainment. It will be filmed in 2022 and is also thought to air at some point in 2023.

Love Island 2023

If this is the case, then ‘Your Mum, My Dad’, will also sit alongside two seasons of Love Island in 2023

Early next year, Winter Love Island will return, and then the traditional Summer Love Island will follow. The latter currently takes place in a villa in Mallorca.

At the time of writing, it is not known where Winter Love Island 2023 or Love Island spin-off, Your Mum, My Dad, will take place.

You can watch Love Island season eight every night on ITV2 at 9 pm.
