There was always going to be teething problems with the world turning to remotely interact with one another, and while the show must go on, some people are responding to the self-isolation boredom very differently to others.
As universities choose to livestream their lectures in a bid to keep students from their vital learning, students are discovering that not everything they do in the privacy of their homes is being kept ‘private’.
Macquarie University in Sydney are just one of the few universities who are live-streaming their lectures, and one law class in particular has gone viral online after the lecturer caught two of the students in her class ‘participating in a sex act’.
The teacher, who pauses her class for about five minutes to deal with the situation, goes on to claim that she needs to ‘bleach her eyes’ after witnessing the x-rated moment.
In the hilarious viral clip, the lecturer (whose identity is currently unknown) is mid-teaching when she stops and says: “Lets go a bit more into termin-, oh my god Give me a minute guys I just want to bleach my eyes and my brain.”
“I love you all but give me one sec, were going to have to have a talk now.
“Alright, um so, I know that precedent is a very sexy topic and I love it when my audience is excited and animated and engaged dear lord, but theres a limit to that, and ironically its the law, law students.
“The student code of conduct that governs that, that being said, dear lord, if youd like to have special love time with your partner… if youd like to spend time with your partner, um… there are some perfectly sanitised and malleable beanbags, Im sure there is an empty cinema around here still trying to make the movie Cats work, its empty, go for your life.”
“This is the second time Im saying this in my career: No below the belt touching in my lecture theatre please.”
For those students who didn’t see what had happened, they begged the lecturer to ‘name and shame’ who it was who had been caught out, but she simply replies: “Just to qualify: This is a mentoring unit so I will give some sort of mentorship here, advice the strategic placement of the hoodie on the lap only draws the eye more.
“I said before that I was glad they kept the university open today I dont know, although I guess if we actually enforced that 1.5m rule I wouldnt be having this conversation with you now. Jesus Christ commencing class of 2020, well remember this fondly and Ill remind you of this at graduation.”
The university has since issued a statement about the x-rated moment, praising the lecturer for her response and how the situation was dealt with. In a statement to news.com.au, a spokesperson said: “The university is aware of the alleged incident and the lecturer took the right steps to manage the incident at that time.
“We remind students of our Student Code of Conduct in relation to their behaviour at Macquarie University.”
