In a cruel prank, someone made a viral photo that claimed McDonald’s was reopening next week. Unfortunately for all your mozzarella dipper-loving lot, it was an April Fool’s joke.
The picture claims: “McDonald’s have decided to re-open all UK branches from Monday 6th April. All branches will only be able offer Drive Thru or takeaway.
“Special measures will be in place to prevent contact and maintain social distancing.
“Unfortunately, our breakfast menu will not be offered but, our lunch menu will be available all day!
“We would like to thank our employees for agreeing to serve you again.
“Floor guides are still installed and we will have a limit of 2 customers inside each restaurant.
“We will continue to monitor the situation but for now, we look forward to welcoming you back!
“See you soon!”
Unfortunately, a lot of people fell for the joke, sharing it to their Instagram Stories and Facebook Pages. If you look closely, there are a couple of grammatical and spelling errors, so really we should have known.
Lots of people getting in touch about a certain post circulating tonight. Its fake, we are not reopening next week and any official announcements would come from this page and would spell the brand name correctly

McDonald’s itself addressed the situation, with some sass of their own, writing: “Lots of people getting in touch about a certain post circulating tonight. Its fake, we are not reopening next week and any official announcements would come from this page and would spell the brand name correctly ”
Hopefully, once all of this blows over we will be able to have as many cheeseburgers and fries as we want. But right now, we just need to make sure we’re staying home and looking after our health first.
