Charlie Brooker has announced that he’s writing a new special surrounding Coronavirus and lockdown.
His iconic series, Wipe, came to an end back in 2017. However he’s decided to team up with BBC Two to bring it back for a special. The working title? Charlie Brooker’s Antiviral Wipe. Love it.
The basic outline of the show will include Brooker’s own insights into the pandemic, and the resulting lockdown. However he’ll also be looking at what the British public have been up to.
In a statement, Charlie said: “The BBC asked me to supply a quote for the press release, which is what youre reading now.”
In an interview with Radio Times back in 2018, Charlie said: “In terms of like Wipe shows, Black Mirror takes up every spare moment that I have so at the moment its quite tricky. Who knows? I wouldnt necessarily rule out an End of Decade Wipe or something like that.
“Or an End of the World Wipe. That might be coming up soon.”
This comes after Thorpe Park announced it was expanding with an official Black Mirror experience.
The new Black Mirror Labyrinth is the world’s first ‘live action Black Mirror experience’.
According to the Thorpe Park you’ll ‘get lost as you enter a hypnotic maze using cutting-edge visual technology and sensory-defying environments. Will you keep your grip on reality or will you lose yourself in the mainframe as this unpredictable digitised dimension reveals an uneasy truth that manipulates and displaces your very existence.’
Which sounds essentially terrifying.
Black Mirror is one of the most mind-bending shows on Netflix and walking through a real life version of Charlie Brooker’s twisted creation is definitely not for the faint hearted.
Obviously, due to current events the park is currently closed, but we can’t wait to try it out once everything’s back to normal!
