Adam Schlesinger, famous for being in rock band Fountains of Wayne, has reportedly died at the age of 52 due to coronavirus.
The award-winning singer-songwriter was in hospital in New York fighting COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, before sadly passing away on Wednesday morning.
US media have said that he died of “complications from the coronavirus” but we do not yet know if he had any underlying health conditions.
Chris Carrabba, from the band Dashboard Confessional, confirmed Schlesingers death.
He tweeted: I knew him best as a mentor, and a friend. We must take this seriously. People are sick and dying. It is hard to stay locked indoors but lives will be saved. Take care of each other. Rest In Peace, my dear friend.
Tom Hanks tweeted: “There would be no Playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his That Thing You Do! He was a One-der. Lost him to Covid-19. Terribly sad today. Hanx”
