Humans buy about 1,000,000 plastic bottles per minute.

That’s why, as part of its new sustainable eyewear collection 5 TO SEE, EyeBuyDirect has launched an Instagram filter to raise awareness of the damage that single-use plastics are causing to our oceans.

The filter – an underwater art gallery – has been designed by Doddz, a renowned augmented reality (AR) creator. It allows viewers to swim with sea turtles and fish while learning about the impact of plastic pollution on our oceans and its inhabitants.

Sustainable artwork will be on show throughout the exhibit, along with eye-opening stats on ocean pollution, like 100,000 marine creatures and 1 million sea birds dying every year due to plastic entanglement or consumption.

Users will also be able to view pieces by Manuela Baron, a sustainability artist and social media influencer known as @TheGirlGoneGreen, whose work includes an elegant, floor-length gown made from upcycled water bottles.

EyeBuyDirect’s new collection features a range of eco-friendly eyewear made of upcycled plastic water bottles, with each design named after plants or bodies of water.

“Our consumers are seeking ways to make a positive impact on the planet with their buying habits and daily purchases, and we’re excited to provide them eyewear that meets their vision needs and values,” said Sunny Jiang, EyeBuyDirect CEO.

The collection has been developed in partnership with 1% for the Planet and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to protecting the oceans.

“We believe it is our responsibility to help pave the way for a brighter future and greener planet for generations to come,” added Jiang.

Kate Williams, CEO at 1% for the Planet, said “The planet needs us now more than ever and our growing network of business members are doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on-the-ground outcomes for our environment.

“We’re excited to welcome 5 TO SEE by EyeBuyDirect into our global movement.”
